7 more colleges to get autonomy

The Autonomy Approval Committee of the government at its meeting here on Tuesday decided to grant autonomy to nine more colleges in the State. The committee chaired by the Education Minister decided to grant autonomy to CMS College, Kottayam, UC College, Aluva, Vimala College, Thrissur, St. Joseph’s College, Irinjalakuda, Marian College, Kuttikanam, Mar Athanasius College, Kothamangalam, St. Alberts College, Ernakulam, Mercy College, Palakkad and Assumption College, Changanassery. Last year, the committee had decided to grant autonomy to 11 colleges. The final seal of approval for autonomy for these colleges will be given by a team from the University Grants Commission, which will inspect these institutions.
