The City Shadow Police on Wednesday arrested four youths for allegedly attacking women who were out on a morning walk.

The accused were identified as Sujesh, 18, from Paruthikkuzhi, Vineeth, 20, from Vallakkadavu, Anand Kumar, 20, from Aruvikkara, and Rahul, 19, from Muttathara. According to the police, they attacked morning walkers, including women at Thiruvallam, Karumam, Kalady, Maruthoorkkadavu, and Chirappalam around 5 a.m. last Thursday.

They used wires and iron rods to attack people. They had also hurled abuses at women, said the police.

Even though a police team arrived at the spot, following calls made by one of the victims, they had managed to escape.

A special team was formed to nab the culprits due to the rare nature of the crime. The police nabbed them based on information gathered from CCTV cameras in nearby areas and from inputs of people in the neighbourhood.

The accused have also been found to be involved in a case of mobile phone theft and an attempt to rob a Tamil Nadu native near Attakulangara recently.
