21 lakh kids given polio drops

As many as 21 lakh children under the age of five in the State were administered Pulse Polio drops on Sunday.

This came to 80 per cent of the target of 26.16 lakh children, Department of Health Services Director R. Ramesh said. As many as 21,371 booths were set up for the immunisation drive. Transit booths functioned in railway stations and airports. The drive was inaugurated by Minister for Health K.K. Shylaja at Women and Children Hospital, Thycaud.

Health volunteers will visit houses on Monday and Tuesday to administer the vaccine to children who could not be covered under the drive on Sunday. Transit booths will also function from 8 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday.
