14 eateries asked to close down

52 outlets get improvement notices in two-day action

As many as 14 restaurants in the district were issued improvement notices by the Food Safety officials on Saturday for violation of the 30-point regulations for hygiene stipulated by the Food Safety Department. (These 14 hotels would have to be closed down. Others served improvement notices can function but works should be carried out to raise standards). As many as 18 hotels were shut down on Friday. In the two-day action, 52 hotels were served improvement notices. As many as 12 hotels were fined, total fines amounting to Rs.1.20 lakh.

The hotels that were shut down were Hotel Dhanya, Chakka Bypass; Ali Resturant, Manacaud; Hotel Ajanta, Vazhuthacaud; Hotel Aryas, Vazhuthacaud; Hotel Malabar, Statue; Hotel Chandra, Thirumala; Food&Style, Palayam; Mobeena Bakers, Pettah; Hotel Ameenas, Safa Hotel, and A-one hotel and fastfood (all three at Vattiyoorkavu); Hotel Shine, Mannanthala; Hotel Smart, Kaimanam; and Arun Tiffin Centre, Killippalam.
