The grades of close to half the 2,585 students who wrote the second semester CBCS B.Com. examinations in May-June 2011 were withheld by the University of Kerala even as the university declared the results of these examinations on Wednesday.
The results of 1,100 students were withheld because their colleges did not submit the statement of attendance and the statement of continuous evaluation before these examinations began.
The results of these students will now be declared only after the colleges turn in these documents.
Prominent colleges of the university, including Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram, Government Arts College, Thiruvananthapuram, St. Joseph's College for Women, Alappuzha, and Christian College, Kattakkada, figure on this ‘defaulters' list' of 19 colleges. Of this, the results from 12 colleges have been withheld for want of the attendance statement and three, for want of both the attendance and continuous evaluation statements.
In the case of SN College Chempazhanthi, the marks for the continuous evaluation have not been countersigned by a single student, university sources said. “We repeatedly pleaded with the college authorities to give us these documents. No one showed a sense of urgency,” an official said. The results of these examinations along with the list of colleges whose results have been withheld are posted on Wednesday evening at the university website keralauniversity.ac.in.
