Zubaid booked for passport act breach

The Kavoor police have booked Zubaid Hussain, husband of Ayesha Bano, for concealing information about possessing a passport while applying for a new one.

Hussain and Bano have been arrested by the Bihar Police for alleged illegal fund transfer and the duo have been taken to Patna for further investigation.

The Kavoor police said they came to know during the questioning of Zubaid that he visited Dubai recently using a passport that had been issued a few years ago. His passport was seized in 2004 by an order of a court following a case of dowry harassment filed by his second wife.

Zubaid changed his name and applied for a fresh passport mentioning the address of the house he shared with Ayesha Bano in Panjimogaru. The Kavoor police have registered a case for violating Section 12 (1) (B) of the Passport Act, which is a compoundable offence that involves imprisonment for a term of two years or a fine of Rs. 5000 or both.

Three arrested

Three more persons have been arrested in connection with the attack on two undertrials on the K.S. Rao Road.

K. Latif, a resident of Ullal and his friend Abdul Nazir, also from Ullal were attacked by a five-member group on November 5 when they were returning from the court after attending hearing in connection with a murder attempt case of 2008.

The Mangalore North police on Friday arrested Kiran Shetty (24) from Moodbidri, Nataraj (23) from Kunjathbail and Mohammed Touseef (21) from Alangar in Moodbidri.

Bank account hacked

A person lost Rs. 77,465 when some unidentified person hacked his savings bank account. The police said Valerian Lobo, a resident of Tirlepalke in Moodubelle village, had a savings bank account with a credit card at Axis Bank in Udupi. But someone from Saudi Arabia had hacked into his bank account on August 6 and 7 this year and purchased items worth Rs. 77,456 through the swipe facility of credit card. A case had been registered at the Udupi Town Police Station under Sections 66 C and D of Information Technology Act and Section 379 of Indian Penal Code.
