Youth Congress demands separate railway division

A delegation of Dakshina Kannada Youth Congress Committee met Minister of State for Railways K. H. Muniappa at New Delhi on Thursday and submitted a memorandum urgingfacilities for Coastal Karnataka ahead of the Railway budget.

Dakshina Kannada District Congress Secretary T.K. Sudhir, who was in the delegation, said in a press release that the delegation had demanded a separate railway division for this region with Mangalore as headquarter.

Train services from Karwar to Bangalore, rail connectivity from Mangalore to Hawra, Hubli via Londa. It sought had sanction for Rapid Transit System, a circular train system from Kundapur to Mangalore covering all important towns of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts and immediate construction of catch siding (additional track to allow crossing) in the Ghat Section between Subramanya and Sakleshpur to facilitate operation more trains.

Delagation led by AICC Member P. V. Mohan, comprised District Youth Congress president Arun Coello, Corporator, Naveen DSouza, Dist Youth Congress general secretary, Denis D' Silva and others.
