For all those who missed many Yakshagana shows of this season because the city’s town hall is under renovation, here is a feast of the art for seven days from Tuesday.
A Yakshagana sapthaha will begin at Manjunatha temple at Kadri. The seven-day programme will feature both Yakshagana performance and talamaddale. It would end on October 12.
Sarayu Bala Yakshavrunda Makkala Mela, Kodical, the host of the sapthaha, would organise it from 5 pm to 10 pm on those days.
The Yakshagana ‘prasangas’ scheduled in the order of days would be Sri Ramanjaneya; Hidimba Vivaha-Bakasura Vadhe-Kimmera Vadhe; Brahmakapala; Yakshamani; Chadita Ambe; Shashiprabha Parinaya and Seetha Parityaga and Kusha Lava.
The talamaddae ‘Vaali Moksha’ would be conducted on October 10 at 2.30 p.m.
On Sunday, there would be solo Yakshagana performance by Goutham D K at 10 am. It would be followed by ‘yugala Yakshagana’ which would be a performance by two artistes Ravi Alevooraya and Sri Vasta Bhat.
Later students of Kadali Kala Kendra would stage Yakshagana ‘Sudarshana Garvabhanga’.
Ravi Alevooraya would perform major female roles in a majority of shows.
Noted ‘bhagawatha’ Puttige Raghurama Holla would sing in the performance on Tuesday. Prasada Balipa would be the ‘bhagawatha’ on Wednesday. Ravichandra Kannadikatte would be the singer on Thursday.
Some of the noted artistes who would be performing in the ‘sapthaha’ would include Subraya Holla, Vishveshwara Bhat, Umesh Shetty, Jagadhabhirama Padubidri, Thimmappa Mijar and Radhakrishna Navada.
