Workshop on Shivaram Karanth, yakshagana on August 30

A workshop on Shivaram Karanth and yakshagana will be conducted at the University College here on August 30.

Organised by Dr. K. Shivaram Karanth Peetha at Mangalore University there will be a yakshagana performance “Sri Krishna Sandhana” by artistes of Shambhu Shishya Prathisthana, Kalagaddae, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Theatre artiste Sadananda Suvarna would inaugurate the workshop at 9.30 a.m. B.A. Vivek Rai, former Vice-Chancellor, Kannada University, Hampi would speak.

Umakanta Bhatta, a Sanskrit Professor, artiste and Pruthviraja Kavattar, a writer and an artiste, would speak on the theme. There would be an interaction, the director of the peetha Bhuvaneshwari Hegde stated in a release. The university, which established the peetha in 1993, recently transferred it from the university campus to the University College.
