Work on Thokkotu flyover will begin soon

December 26, 2012 08:55 am | Updated November 28, 2021 08:48 pm IST - MANGALORE:

Work on the flyover at Thokkotu on National Highway 66 will begin in January, said U.T. Khader, Mangalore MLA, at a press meet here on Tuesday.

There would be two vents below the flyover which would be built by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). He said there was a need for a flyover at Nanthoor and that a fresh proposal would be sent to the government. Referring to the proposal of building a flyover at Pumpwell, he said that a pending issue would be sorted out.

The estimated cost of the widening of the NH 66 between Talapady and Mangalore and between Surathkal and Kundapur would be Rs. 730 crore. Extra work was required for it and Rs. 26 crore has been released by the NHAI for the additional work.

Bus service

The government buses plying between Mangalore and Mudipu had received a good response.

Of the three buses, one has been stopped. “We will look into that issue,” Mr. Khader said. The aim was to get buses plying in areas not covered by any buses.

It did not matter whether they were government or private buses, he said.
