Small-Scale Industries Minister Narasimha Naik, who is also district in-charge, has said that he will not attend the Karnataka Janata Paksha convention in Haveri as he does not like to act against his conscience.

Leaders can choose to participate in the convention, and it is purely based on their conscience. Being a Minster in the Bharatiya Janata Party government, I don’t think I should attend [the programme]. That would be against my conscience, he said.

He was speaking to presspersons at the Kambhavi helipad on Monday after attending a function in Malahalli village in Surpur taluk in the district.

He expressed confidence that the BJP leadership would convince the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa to not quit the party.

Mr. Naik said the differences between BJP leaders had irked the people of the State and hit development works.

He dismissed rumours about joining the Congress. “There is a lot of confusion in State politics. I am unable to take a decision,” he said.
