The new company of women Police personnel, comprising of 120 women, of the Karnataka State Reserve Police will start functioning in another three months, said Additional Director General of Police Praveen Sood.

Talking to reporters after reviewing passing out parade of 150 KSRP constables here on Tuesday, Mr. Sood said recruitment for the new Mahila Company of the KSRP had already been done and they will be part of the Belagavi battalion. “In another three months you will see them in action,” Mr. Sood said and added they were presently undergoing training.

Having a Mahila Company of the KSRP was among the many changes brought in the KSRP, which has been neglected. The State government was supporting initiatives being taken by the department, he said.

Mr. Sood said that the State government has sanctioned two such contingents. While the recruitment for the first unit is over, exercise for the second KSRP women contingent will start next year. Recruitment of women for the second cotingent will start next year. The KSRP will create new training facility and other facilities necessary for women to maintain privacy.
