A 19-year-old woman has accused her 22-year-old friend of sexual assault near Kavoor. The police said the youth, Dilip, reportedly promised to marry her and sexually assaulted her a few weeks ago. However, he reneged saying she belonged to the Scheduled Caste, police said. Dilip allegedly threatened the girl and asked her not to go public about the sexual assault.

The police have registered a case of sexual assault and also under the provisions of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Three persons questioned

Three persons have been taken for questioning in relation to the murder of a 35-year-old bus owner Anish Shetty near Kadri Park on May 9. The police are questioning Hemant, a fellow aide of Shetty, who was reportedly acting as a middleman in a land deal. Shetty too was acting as another middleman.

The police are also questioning Abdul Hameed and Rohan, who reportedly were with Hemant on Friday. Hemant was reportedly angry with Shetty over the latter’s interference in land deals that he was involved in, said the police.
