B.S. Yeddyurappa, former Chief Minister and president of the State unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on Monday demanded a White Paper so that people can understand the actual condition of the finances of the State. Addressing presspersons here, Mr. Yeddyurappa said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should give information on the loans raised by the government, the grants received from the Union government and how much money had been spent on welfare programmes, especially in the Departments of Irrigation, Public Instruction and Social Welfare.
Many BJP/RSS workers were killed in Kerala in the last couple of years. But the Left Front government there has been passive to these killings. An RSS worker, Anandan (23), was killed at Guruvayoor on November 12. “We condemn this murder. Though the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts were close to Kerala, we will not allow such tendencies to creep in here. We will not allow these districts to become another Mallapuram,” he said.
There was an unrest-like atmosphere in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kodagu districts because of the murder of BJP and RSS workers in the last few years. Yet the State government was backing organisations such as Social Democratic Party of India and Popular Front of India (PFI). Organisations such as Karnataka Forum for Dignity and PFI were active in Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu districts. Numerous pleas made to the State government to ban them had fallen on deaf ears, he said. Mr. Yeddyurappa urged the government to withdraw the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments (Amendment) Bill 2017, which, he said, was a “dark bill”.
To a query, Mr. Yeddyurappa said that neither the Minister for Fisheries, Youth Empowerment and Sports, Pramod Madhwaraj, had joined the BJP nor the party wanted him. “We have enough local leaders here,” he said.
Earlier, Mr. Yeddyurappa visited the Sri Krishna Mutt/Temple and offered his prayers.
