Food and Civil Supplies Minister U.T. Khader on Sunday said that the government will gather public opinion before going ahead with the proposed project to pump excess Netravathi water to Bengaluru.

He told reporters here that the government has just received a feasibility report proposing to build a dam at Netravathi’s mouth in the sea.

Not all the water draining into the sea would be collected and pumped to Bengaluru; but only about 30 tmcft of water is proposed to be utilised, he said. The collected water would also be utilised to cater to the requirements of Dakshina Kannada.
