Guruvayanakere-based Nagarika Seva Trust said they were interested in finding facts about institutions run by Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Veerendra Heggade. The recent statement made by the trust president Somanath Nayak related to Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Programme (SKDRDP) was based on facts, they said.

The trust was responding to statements by SDM Law College Principal B.K. Ravindra and SDM College of Business Adminsration Director K. Devaraj’s statement of their intention to file defamation cases against activists Mr. Nayak and Mahesh Shetty Thimarody.

Trust Secretary C.H. Jayaprakash Bhat said the trust President was issued a notice of defamation in 2009 when he raised 16 questions in relation to running of SKDRDP, the Dharmasthala temple and other institutions. This year a civil defamation case has been filed against him. Mr. Bhat said the trust will fight it out on basis of documents.

Mr. Bhat said the trust only wants to reveal the truth and their intention was not to defame either Mr. Heggade or the institutions he runs.
