Vivekananda rath yatra to enter Mangalore on Tuesday

A golden coloured chariot Swami Vivekananda Rath will enter the city from Bantwal on Tuesday on a two-day tour of the city.

The chariot will carry the message of Swami Vivekananda along with two of his statues.

Ramakrishna Math and Mission and Karnataka Ramakrishna Vivekananda Bhava Prachara Parishad have organised the rath yatra to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Vivekananda, according to J.R. Lobo, MLA, Mangalore City South and Swami Jitakamanandaji, president of Ramakrishna Math, Mangalore.

Addressing a joint press conference here on Sunday they said that the rath would be received in front of Mangalore City Corporation’s office at 8.30 a.m. Later it would travel to the Ramakrishna Math, where a function would be held at the math at 11.15 a.m. A procession with the rath would be taken out from Nehru Maidan to the math at 4.30 p.m. where a function would be held at 5.30 p.m.

The following day it would proceed to Thokkottu at 8.30 a.m. and later to Yenepoya University and K S Hegde Medical College at Deralakatte where functions would be conducted from 9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. The rath would be at Kalladkka at 12.30 p.m. Later it would proceed to Vitla. The rath would be at Puttur on November 7 and at Sullia on November 8. It would proceed to Hassan the next day.
