Vice President Ansari arrives in Mangalore

A plethora of politicians and district officials extended warm welcome to M.Hamid Ansari, who made his first visit to the city as Vice President of India, on Sunday.

Mr. Ansari is primarily here to attend the centenary celebrations of Catholic Association of South Kanara (CASK). On his arrival at 1.20 p.m. in a special aircraft, Mr. Ansari was greeted by State Governor Vajubai Vala, Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment, B. Ramanath Rai, among others.

The city police had cleared the path for the VP from the airport to Circuit House at Kadri. Traffic movement and parking has been prohibited on the highway as well as around the government guest house.

The dignitaries will head towards Milagres Hall at 5.30 p.m., where the CASK centenary celebrations are scheduled to be held.
