Art lovers can look for quality Yakshagana of the Badagu Thittu school here on December 27.

Vibhinna, which is known for organising quality Yakshagana since 2009, has chosen the Brahmakapala episode this year for its annual presentation.

Artistes under the banner Poornachandra Yakshagana Mandali, Kondadakuli, and led by well-known artiste Kondadakuli Ramachandra Hegde, will stage the four-hour show at Ramakrishna Mutt from 3 p.m.

It will be an occasion to view the nava rasas of Yakshagana in the Badagu Thittu (northern school) style with the laya and natya for which the school is known.

It will also be a rare occasion to witness the role of Shiva by Mr. Hegde with his tandava nritya and depiction of shringara rasa by both Totimane Ganapathi Hegde who will don the role of as Brahma and Neelkodu Shankara Hegde who will play the character of Sharade. Comedian Chapparamane Sridhar Hegde will be the Shiva Kiratha.

The others who will play the lead characters include Mururu Vishnu Bhat as Mahogra Muni, Mururu Subrahmanya Hegde as Kumude, Tombattu Vishwanatha Acharya as Manmatha and Vijaya Ganiga as Yakshini.

Most-sought after bhagawathas (singers) Raghavendra Achar Jansale and Vidwan Ganapathi Bhat will lead the presentation. Entry to the show is free.

The story line revolves around love between Brahma and Sharada, his own creation; Shiva severing the fifth head of Brahma; later Shiva wandering seeking alms with the skull cap of Brahma and the skull cap finally leaving its hold on Shiva and falling to the ground with an assurance by Vishnu that it could consume as much blood in the Kurukshetra war.

Vibhinna is organising the show for the seventh year in a row.
