Two more arrested in homestay attack case

The Mangalore Rural police on Thursday arrested two more persons in connection with the July 28 Home Stay attack case taking the total number of arrested persons to 37.

The police gave the names of the persons arrested on Thursday as Rajesh Kaikamba from Gurupura and Harish from Parangipet. They were among the 20 persons against whom the Second Judicial Magistrate First Class had issued non-bailable warrants as police reported them as absconding while filing chargesheet in the case on September 25.

The police have filed chargesheet against 44 persons including two journalists Naveen Soorinje and Sharan. The two journalists have been charged of abetting offences namely dacoity, unlawful behaviour, and outraging modesty of women allegedly committed by persons involved in the attack. The two arrested on Thursday were a part of the unlawful assembly at the Home Stay on July 28, the police said.
