Personnel of the Forest Department rescued two leopards on Tuesday, one each from different places in Udupi district. In the first incident, a leopard entered the bathroom of Jayalakshmi Hansraj Sanil, vice-president of Alevoor Gram Panchayat, at Kemthur in the early hours on Tuesday.

Since the dogs were barking a lot, her husband Hansraj got up and found the leopard in the bathroom. He quickly locked the bathroom and informed the Forest Department. The wild cat was later released in a reserve forest. In the second incident, a leopard was found caught in a barbed wire fence at Kaadur village. After getting information about it, the forest officials tranquilised the wild cat with the help of a veterinary doctor. The leopard was then brought to Baikady. “We will release it in a forest,” a forest official told The Hindu .
