Two die in road accident near Vitla

A 38-year-old motorcyclist and a 47-year-old pillion rider were killed after their motorcycle was hit by a car in Kepu village near Vitla on Sunday.

According to Vitla police, Umesh Naika (38) was riding the motorcycle with Vasant Naika (47) as pillion. The two were going from Vitla towards Kasaragod. At Kepu, a car coming from Kasaragod hit the motorcycle head-on around 5 p.m. The two fell off the motorcycle. They died while being moved to a nearby private hospital.

Robbery

The Central Crime Branch police have arrested a man on the charge of robbery.

The police gave his name as Jayaprakash (24). They said that Akshay (19) from Neerumarga was kidnapped by his four friends in an autorickshaw to Sultan Battery on February 14. The accused left Akshay on his undergarments and then took away the money he was carrying. The accused took a video of Akshay and circulated in a social networking site. Following a compliant, the Mangaluru Rural police arrested Joel and Vikky Bappal. The CCB police were informed that Jayaprakash was staying in a house in Shivamogga. The CCB team went there and arrested him. The police said it was Jayaprakash who disrobed Akshay and took the money.
