Two die as bus slips off road near Charmadi

Two persons died while eight others sustained injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in lost control and fell into a gorge near Charmadi on Saturday.

Kalakka Raju, 49, and his wife Chikkamma, 46, from Hassan, died when their minibus overloaded with 13 passengers and goods fell into the gorge at the fifth curve, said the Belthangady police. The passengers were travelling from Chikmagalur towards Dharmasthala.

The police have registered a case against driver Govindaraju, who is recovering at a hospital in Mangalore.
