Two attacked by unknown persons

Three unknown miscreants attacked two persons with lethal weapons near Guruvayanakere in Belthangady police limits on Monday. Victims are in hospital and said to be out of danger, said Dakshina Kannada SP Sudheer Kumar Reddy in a communique here. He gave the names of victims as Irfan and Nissar.

Irfan told the police that three persons from their community asked them to come to a secluded place, where they attacked them.

Meanwhile, the police have taken in to custody one of the prime accused in Ashraf Kalai murder case of Benjanapadavu. According to the police, Divyaraj Shetty planned and executed the murder, Mr. Reddy said. Another prime accused, Bharath, is yet to be arrested. The police are investigating the role of some others, he added.
