The police have arrested two persons, who are said to be associates of underworld operative Ravi Poojary, on the charge of possessing a revolver and 10 bullets illegally.

Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh told presspersons here on Tuesday said the arrested were Pradeep Mendon (39) of Nagesh Nagara at Aadi Udupi, and A.S. Ravi (27) of Mahatma Gandhi Road at Somwarpet in Kodagu. Mr. Singh said the police were investigating if the duo were involved in the incident near Kadri Park on May 26 in which assailants allegedly fired at the car in which realtor Suresh Bhandary and his family members were seated. He said the police kept a vigil on the movement of persons who had been rowdy sheeted, after the incident at Kadri. The weapon and bullets were recovered from Mendon and Ravi in this process.

Earlier, the police had registered two murder cases, four attempt to murder, and two other cases against Mendon. Two more cases had been registered against him under the Arms Act. These cases had been registered in Barke, Mangalore East, Mangalore South, Surathkal, Urwa (all in Mangalore) and Karkala police stations, the Commissioner said.

Mr. Singh said Mendon had told the police that he was a real estate agent. Ravi was selling compact discs at Mannagudda here. His shop was closed sometime ago.

The Commissioner said the police were preparing a list of persons to be booked under the Goonda Act in the jurisdiction of Mangalore Commissionerate. Warrants would be issued to such persons.
