The Tulu film on social reformer Narayana Guru is likely to be released in the theatres in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi in April second week.

Film’s producer and director Rajashekar Kotian said the film was now in the post production phase. Produced under the banner ‘Tungabhandra Film’, the movie would be released in five theatres in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, Mr. Kotian said.

Mr. Kotian, who plays the role of a landlord in the film, said this was the first time he was directing a film. “I worked for three years on this project, which has become a reality now,” he said. The lead role of reformer Narayana Guru is being played by Venkatadri. Among those seen in the movie include Minister K. Abhayachandra Jain, who will be playing the role of Rabindranath Tagore. The former Karnataka Tulu Academy president Umanath Kotian also has a character to play. Popular comedians Arvind Bolar and Bhojaraj Vamanjoor are also cast besides Kannada actor Vijay Raghavendra.

Mr. Kotian said that after releasing the film in DK and Udupi, he would consider releasing it in Mumbai and other places where Tulu-speaking people reside.
