Toppers set their sights on engineering careers

Students topping in the science stream of the second year Pre University examination from Mangalore intend to pursue engineering. Though preference goes for National Institute of Technology, Surathkal, they are open for engineering college in Manipal and a few colleges in Bangalore too.

Pooja Baliga from Canara PU College, who scored 593 marks, wants to pursue Electronic and Communication.

“I have written the CET and also the entrance test by MAHE. Hopeful of getting into college of my choice,” said Ms. Baliga, daughter of AIR employee Chandrika Baliga and Oriental Insurance employee Radhakrishna Baliga.

Flying colours

Pallavi Rao K. from the Govindadasa College, who has also scored 593 marks, prefers NIT-K. “But I am ready [to join] colleges coming under the CET,” said Ms. Rao, the daughter of Bhuvaneshwari and Manjunath Rao. “I leave the choice of college to her. She is the best judge,” said her father Manjunath Rao, who works at the laboratory of Primary Industries.

Sridevi Bhat from Expert PU College, who scored 590 marks, hopes to get a seat in the NIT-K with a score of 182 in the JEE (Mains) examination. “I have not yet decided the stream I should opt for,” she says. She has written entrance examination of MAHE and VIT University Vellore.

Dhanashri Deshpande from the same college, who secured 588 marks, wants to do Engineering either in Computer Science or in Electronics and Communication.

Ankita Hudedagaddi, also from the same college, who got 586 marks, wants either Mechanical or Aerospace engineering course.
