In the light of Tipu Jayanti celebrations, the district administration has clamped prohibitory orders under Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code from 6 a.m. on November 8 to 6 a.m. on November 11 barring those places where government programmes would be held.

An official press release issued here on Monday said that various organisations are likely to hold protests against the celebration of Tipu Jayanti. There were sensitive and hyper-sensitive areas in Udupi district.

Hence there was a possibility of law and order being affected. In order to prevent any untoward incidents during Tipu Jayanti, the Deputy Commissioner, Priyanka Mary Francis, had issued prohibitory orders as a precautionary measure, the release said.
