Three students drown in the Netravati

Three engineering students drowned in the Netravati near Innoli in Konaje police limits on Monday afternoon.

The police have identified the deceased as Sri Ram from Chitradurga, Vikki from Belthangady and Shubham from Bihar, all students of Srinivasa Institute of Technology, Valachchil, near here.

According to police, eight students had gone swimming in the afternoon. While they were coming out of the river, one of the boys slipped into the water and two others jumped in to rescue him. All the three drowned due to the strong current, police said.

The police and rescue personnel have fished out all the three bodies. The Konaje police have registered cases of unnatural death and are investigating.
