This month-end, take a cruise along the Gurupura

It will be a new feature of this year’s beach utsav

Come December 24, people can enjoy a cruise along the the Gurupura and the Nethravati. A two-hour ride in the morning will cost Rs. 300 and a ride during the afternoon and the evening will cost Rs. 500 per head.

The cruise facility is the new feature of this year’s beach utsav, which is part of the Karavali Utsav, to be held between December 24 and January 1. The cruise will start from Sultan Battery.

Charandas V. Karkera, the owner of Cruise and Dine who’s organising the event, said that three different boats will be used for the purpose.

A big boat, which has been in use for three years, can accommodate around 150 persons and a medium-sized boat can carry around 30 members.

A small boat will be able to carry around 10 members, Mr. Charan said and added that all three will be stationed at Sultan Battery. During the beach festival, a food festival will also be organised which will feature Gujarati, Kodava, Kerala and north Karnataka delicacies.

Gujarati delicacies and a cultural performance by the groups will be showcased on December 24.

Kodava and north Karnataka dishes will be available on Panambur beach on December 25 and December 29, said Chief Executive Officer of Panambur Beach Development Project Yatish Baikampady.

The Kerala Samajam will be having their food festival between December 26 and December 28 that will also feature performances by the Kalamandalam cultural troupe.

New year celebrations on December 31 will feature a performance by the local JPL music band.

There will be surfing training at Sasihithlu during the nine-day festival. A skating competition will be held for schoolstudents near Nandaneshwara temple on December 28.

Assistant Commissioner, Mangaluru Taluk, Ashok D.R. said the beach festival will be inaugurated on December 24 with a kites display.
