Team from Punjab wins ‘Smart India Hackathon’

The Beant College of Engineering and Technology, Gurdaspur, emerged winners of the Manipal centre in the “Smart India Hackathon-2017,” which concluded at Manipal Institute of Technology, here on April 2.

The team also won a cash prize of ₹1 lakh. Another team from Punjab, Lovely Professional University, was second and Siddaganga Institute of Technology, Tumakuru, Karnataka, was third. They bagged ₹75,000 and ₹50,000 respectively. As many as 26 teams had worked on problem statements from UGC to find solutions, and the teams named Stealth Strikers_BCET_GSP, Baby, and Deep Minds finished first, second and third.

Zenith from Kasegaon Education Society Rajarambapu Institute of Technology, Sangli, Maharashtra, and SMSVNS Titans from School of Management Sciences, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, were fourth and fifth, respectively. G.K. Prabhu, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Manipal University, presided over the function.
