TAPMI professor wins at ISB-Ivey case competition

A professor at the T.A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) has won the Best Case under Operations Category of ISB-Ivey Global Case Competition for 2014.

TAPMI professor A. Sivakumar’s case on “UPSL- Exploring Operations Strategy Options” has won the award. A press release issued by the Institute said for this achievement, Prof. Sivakumar will get an award of 2,000 dollars, sponsored by Amazon.

The annual competition is organised by Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad.

This year, 109 entries from more than 50 B-schools in India and abroad including the United States, Canada, Australia and Switzerland were received. The award is expected to be presented to the winners in November. Prof. Sivakumar was not available for comment as he had gone to Australia to attend a conference.

However, Chowdari Prasad, Dean- Public Relations and Chairman-Admissions at TAPMI, told The Hindu on Thursday that Prof. Sivakumar had won the competition for writing a case on the operational aspects of Manipal Technologies Ltd.

Last year, Prof. Sivakumar along with Ajit Kumar, also serving as Professor in TAPMI, had jointly bagged the award for doing a study on product development aspects of the company Primacy Candles in Mangalore, said Prof. Prasad.
