The meeting of Mangalore Taluk Panchayat was stalled on Tuesday with members questioning the process of election of Vajrakshi Shetty as the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Social Justice.

The members questioned Ms. Shetty sharing the dais at the meeting with the panchayat president Harish K.

The panchayat members belonging to the Congress said Ms. Shetty was not duly elected to the post and sought adjournment of the meeting. Mr. Harish said the zilla panchayat in its communication had not questioned the appointment of Ms. Shetty as chairperson of the standing committee, but had only said the process of election of Ms. Shetty had not been completed.

The zilla panchayat had not in any way directed the taluk panchayat against holding its meeting. Refusing to buy the argument, 18 members from the Congress walked out forcing Mr. Harish to adjourn the meeting.
