A rally will be held in the city on Thursday to protest against lacunae in the investigation of the Deralakatte blackmail incident, said Kamala Prabhakar Bhat, honorary secretary, Jagruti Mahila Vedike.

Speaking at a press meet held in the city on Monday, she said Sushma Swaraj, BJP Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Smriti Irani and Uma Bharati, BJP National vice-presidents would attend the meet.

Asha Jagadish, Co-convenor, Jagruti Mahila Vedike, said, “The protest is not about one girl. It is about all girls.”

A press release lamented that the government had not taken appropriate measures on missing girls in the last 10 years, which had led to incidents such as the Deralakatte forced sex. The government was not taking the recent incident seriously, the Vedike alleged.
