A few hours after the murder of an activist of the SDPI in Benjanpadavu and stone-throwing incidents along the highway between Mangaluru and Kalladka on Wednesday, the State government transferred Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police Bhushan Gulabrao Borase to Bengaluru and posted Mandya Superintendent of Police C.H. Sudhir Kumar Reddy to Dakshina Kannada.

Mr. Reddy, a 2010 IPS officer, is a B.Tech graduate and hails form Andhra Pradesh. Earlier, he served as Additional Superintendent of Police, Bhatkal, and as Superintendent of Police in Bidar.

Mr. Borase, a 2009 batch IPS officer, was posted to Dakshina Kannada on May 22 2016 following his people-friendly initiatives during his tenure as Superintendent of Police in Mandya. Recently, a video-clipping of Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology B. Ramanath Rai instructing Mr. Borase to book RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat under the Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code went viral.

Meanwhile, Director-General and Inspector-General of Police Rupak Kumar Dutta has posted Mangaluru South Police Inspector K.U. Belliyappa as Police Inspector of Bantwal Circle. In the order, Mr. Dutta said that Mr. Belliyappa should be immediately relived from his existing post and allowed to take charge of the new post. Mr. Belliyappa worked in Bantwal for six years.
