“My aim is to become an IAS officer,” said a student to Deputy Commissioner N.S. Channappa Gowda at a function here on Sunday.
The Dakshina Kannada unit of Bharat Scouts and Guides organised the function at the official residence of the Deputy Commissioner for presenting the district-level Scouts and Guides awards.
“My aim is to get the State-level award,” said another student to Mr. Gowda.
The Deputy Commissioner, who is heading the Bharat Scouts and Guides district unit, asked the students what they wanted to achieve in future.
Mr. Gowda told them to become good citizens.
The awards were in the form of certificates for students who had passed different levels of examinations conducted by Bharat Scouts and Guides.
The certificates were given to group leaders of various schools.
Thriteeya Charana Award was given to 165 cubs (boys aged between six and 10) from 22 schools, and Suvarna Pankh Award to 193 bulbuls (girls aged between 6 and 10) from 27 schools.
Mr. Gowda gave away Thriteeya Sopana Award to 110 scouts (boys aged between 11 and 17) from 43 schools, and 175 guides (girls aged between 11 and 17) from 52 schools.
Praveen Award was presented to 52 rovers (boys aged between 17 and 25) from eight colleges, and 112 rangers (girls aged between 17 and 25) from nine colleges. Students of Sarojini Madhusudana Kushe School presented a dance programme.
Ramashesha Shetty, District Commissioner of Scouts, and Irin D'Cunha, District Commissioner of Guides, were present.
