Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) will have a company (a wing) of women within three months, according to Additional Director General of Police Praveen Sood.

Talking to reporters here after reviewing a passing out parade of 150 KSRP constables, Mr. Sood said recruitment for the new ‘mahilia company’ of the KSRP had been done and they would be part of the Belgavi battalion. “In another three months you will see them in action,” Mr. Sood said and added that they were presently undergoing training.

Having a ‘mahila company’ of the KSRP was among the many changes being brought about in the KSRP, which had been neglected. The State government was supporting initiatives being taken by the department, he said. Mr. Sood said the State government has sanctioned two ‘mahila companies’. The recruitment for the second company would be conducted next year. The KSRP will be creating a new training facility for women recruits and other facilities necessary for women to maintain privacy.

He said the KSRP was turning young with recruitment of young personnel. While as many as 1,000 personnel have passed out in the last three months, the results of interview of 1,000 others would be out in the next ten days.
