SSLC: 236 absent in Udupi

As many as 236 candidates were absent on the first day of the SSLC examinations in Udupi district on Monday.

Diwaker Shetty, Deputy Director of Public Instruction, told The Hindu that out of 16,582 candidates registered for the examinations, 16,346 appeared for the first language examination. No malpractice or any other untoward incident had been reported in the district, he said.

In Mangaluru, 33,648 of the registered 34,424 SSLC students wrote the first language examination on Monday.

Thus the number of absentees was 776. On Wednesday, students will write Science examination.
