Sri Krishna Vesha competition in Kadri

Children will throng the premises of Manjunatha temple in Kadri on September 13 to participate in Krishna Vesha competition.

Organised by the temple administration and Kalkura Foundation, the annual contest would be conducted from 9 a.m. in 30 categories at eight venues, according to Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, president of the foundation.

Drawing Sri Krishna in rangoli is an addition this year. The participants, who have to use only colour powder, should complete the rangoli within two hours. This competition would be conducted in three categories – for children from Class V to VII, from Class VIII to X and open to all.

He said in ‘gana vaibhava’ competition, the participants can sing folk, devotional and light music on Sri Krishna. It would be conducted in five categories.

There would be other categories like Balakrishna, Kishora Krishna, Kanda Krishna, Muddu Krishna, Tunta Krishna, Geetha Krishna, Sri Krishna, Yaksha Krishna, Radha Krishna, Yashoda Krishna, Devaki Krishna, Vasudeva Krishna and the like.

There would be quiz competition. Daily puja or traditional puja items would be given to children participating in quiz as prizes.

All participants in different events would be given an idol of Udupi Kadegolu Krishna, books relating to Krishna, a certificate, a photo of Lord Manjunatha of Kadri and a copy of Shrimad Bhagavadgeetha.

According to him, 2,000 children and adults took part in the competition last year. Registration can be done over 2492239, he said.
