Soorinje seeks discharge in ‘homestay’ attack case


Kasturi Newz 24 reporter Naveen Soorinje on Tuesday sought discharge from July 28 ‘homestay’ attack case. Mr. Soorinje has filed an application in this regard before the 2 Additional District and Sessions Court.

Mr. Soorinje’s counsel Satish Kumar Bantwal said one of the grounds for discharge was the statement given to the High Court on March 18 by Vijay Kumar, the complainant in the case, during the hearing on bail application. Mr. Kumar had said on oath that Mr. Naveen tried to protect young women from the assaulters. Mr. Bantwal said they have also brought to notice of the court that Mr. Soorinje was a whistleblower in the case. The Sessions Court has posted the matter to April 9. Mr. Soorinje, who was released on bail on Tuesday, is among the 44 persons charge sheeted in the case.
