The battered 13-km stretch between Gundia and the Kempu Hole guesthouse of Shiradi Ghat will be made motorable before the onset of monsoon, said Minister for Public Works, Ports and Inland Transport H.C. Mahadevappa.

He said that the maintenance of Shiradi Ghat – a vital link between the coast and the hinterland – was an important work of the department. The work of filling up the potholes of the road had already commenced.

Mr. Mahadevappa said that the process of calling fresh bids for reconstruction of the Shiradi Ghat road, as part of Package 2, was on.

The State government had cancelled the earlier contract as the contractor did not begin the work even 13 months after issuing the work order.
