Seminar on Krishnadevaraya

It will look at the impact of his rule on Tulunadu

The Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy and Dravidian University, Kuppam, will be jointly organising a two-day national seminar on Sri Krishnadevaraya and Tulunadu at the Bhavani Mantapa of the Ambalpady temple here from May 19. The seminar is being organised to mark the 500th anniversary of the coronation of Krishnadevaraya.

Dugappa Kajekar, member of the academy and convener of the seminar, told presspersons here on Saturday that experts would be covering various aspects of Krishnadevaraya's rule and its impact on Tulunadu.

Programmes featuring recitation of poetry and painting (Kavya-Gana-Kuncha), folk dances of Tulunadu and Yakshagana on Sri Krishnadevaraya would be held during the seminar.

In addition, a multilingual poets' meet held. Poets would recite poems in Kannada, Tulu, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Konkani.

MP D.V. Sadananda Gowda and Vice-Chancellor of Dravidian University Cuddapah Ramanaiah would be the chief guests at the inauguration, Dr. Kajekar said.
