September 22, 2010 03:29 pm | Updated 03:29 pm IST - MANGALORE:

At the end of a marathon meeting with sand suppliers here on Monday, district in-charge Minister J. Krishna Palemar announced a ceiling of Rs. 1,800 for each lorry-load of sand sold within the city limits.

The present price is subject to change, he said. The price of sand in other parts of the district such as Bantwal, Sullia and Belthangady is yet to be fixed. A price fixation committee would be formed at a later date, if the need arose, the Minister said.

A decision was also taken to issue uniform licences across the district.
