Restore order orquit, MLC tells CM, Rai

Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLC and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, on Monday demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Minister for Environment and Forests B. Ramanath Rai for their failure to control group clashes in Dakshina Kannada.

Addressing presspersons here, Mr. Poojary said that RSS activist, Sharath, who was attacked by unknown people at B.C. Road on July 4, was in no way connected to politics. He died of his injuries on July 7. It was now six days since he was attacked, yet the police had not been able to crack the case.

Even when Sharath’s body was being brought in a procession on July 8, there was stone-throwing. Of the 13 persons arrested in the stone-throwing case, nearly six were from Kerala. The attacks on members of the Sangh Parivar in the State had increased ever since the Congress government came to power four years ago.

The Home portfolio was now with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

There was a situation of unrest in Dakshina Kannada district. Even Mr. Ramanath Rai, who is the district in-charge, had not been able to deal with the situation. In fact, Mr. Rai had been behaving in a partisan manner.

“Hence, Mr. Rai should resign as Minister. If Mr. Siddaramaiah cannot deal with the situation, he too should put in his papers,” he said. Action should be taken against the guilty whosoever they may be, Mr. Poojary said.
