The Surathkal police on Wednesday began the process of identifying the Central Industrial Security Force personnel allegedly involved in attack of civilians in Kuthethur on August 11.

Police Commissioner Manish Kharbikar said victims of the attack on August 11 have been called to identify the CISF personnel. “So far we have identified 13 personnel,” Mr. Kharbikar said. After the process is completed, the police will arrest the personnel and produce them before the jurisdictional court.

As many as six persons were injured and five vehicles were damaged after CISF personnel allegedly went berserk following incidents of stone-throwing at their quarters. Three injured persons filed a complaint against the CISF personnel.

The CISF Senior Commandant Anil Bali held a preliminary inquiry into the issue and found aberrations in the conduct of the CISF personnel. The CISF officials have ordered a departmental inquiry based on the preliminary findings.
