Ramesh, new MUDA chairman

The newly appointed Chairman of Mangalore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Ramesh S. took charge on Wednesday.

He told presspersons that he would continue plans initiated by his predecessor Madhav Bhandary. Housing for the poor was a serious concern, a number of applications had been pending with MUDA.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leaders, including Mangalore Division Sanghchalak Vaman Shenoy and Vishwa Hindu Parishad State vice-president M.B. Puranik congratulated Mr. Ramesh. Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, elected representatives, and officials were present.

Many of the visitors brought gifts and flowers for Mr. Ramesh.

A member of the BJP for six years, Mr. Ramesh had been treasurer of the party and was at present the director of the Karavali Credit Cooperative Society. He was president of the Hindu Hitarakshana Vedike.
