Rain damages school roof

A school and a house were damaged during heavy rain in Udupi district on Monday.

According to the Udupi tahsildar's office, the tiled roof of three rooms of the Saraswati Higher Primary School at Shiribeedu here were destroyed.

The cost of the damage has been estimated at Rs. 1 lakh.

Flooded

A portion of the Bannanje area here was inundated.

A wall of the house of Kamala Shedti at Inna village in Karkala taluk collapsed, according to the the Karkala tahsildar's office. The loss due to the damage caused to the house has been estimated at Rs. 4,000.

According to the control room in the Deputy Commissioner's office here, Udupi received 95.8 mm of rainfall in 24 hours till 8.30 a.m. on Monday. Kundapur and Karkala recorded 28.4 mm and 58.6 mm of rainfall respectively during the period.
