Rain damages four houses in Udupi dist.

As many as four houses and a field were damaged due to rain accompanied by strong winds in Udupi district on Wednesday. Low-lying areas were flooded in some areas of the district.

According to the information provided by the district administration, the house of Girija at Gujjady village was damaged when a tree fell on it and the loss had been estimated at ₹1 lakh. A tree fell on the house of Paddu Poojarti at Basrur village in Kundapur taluk and loss was estimated at ₹50,000.

The house of Bhaskar Sherigar was damaged, when a tree fell on it, at Kandavar village in Kundapur taluk and the loss had been estimated at ₹3,000.

In Karkala taluk, the house of Asam Iliyas was damaged at Kukkundur village and loss was ₹10,000. The coconut and arecanut trees were damaged in a field belonging to Sujat S. at Kuchur village in the same taluk and the loss was estimated at ₹15,000.

Udupi received a rainfall of 31 mm in the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday. Kundapur and Karkala received a rainfall of 29.5 mm and 39.9 mm respectively.
