Sixteen houses have been damaged and fields in low-lying areas inundated in Udupi district due to rains.
According the Udupi Taluk Office, a house each was damaged in Perdoor and Kalathur. In Kundapur, six houses were damaged while in Karkala eight houses bore the brunt of monsoon fury.
Three electricity poles were damaged at Kasba in Karkala.
Rainfall
According to the Control Room in Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Udupi received a rainfall of 48.4 mm in the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday. Kundapur and Karakala received a rainfall of 130.1 mm and 118.6 mm, respectively.
The Met Department had forecast a rainfall of above 175 mm in coastal Karnataka in the next 48 hours. Fishermen had been advised not to venture into the sea.
Netravati swells

Heavy rains continued to lash Dakshina Kannada resulting in an increased inflow into the Kumaradhara and the Netravati Rivers.
The water level at the Netravati in B.C. Road stood at 7.2 meters, a meter below the danger mark. The water level of Kumaradhara in Uppinangady was at 23 meters as against the danger level of 29.5 meters. The road to Kukke Subramanya was closed for a few hours on Wednesday morning with water submerging Hosmata bridge.
Beltangady received 141.2 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours ending at 8 a.m. on Wednesday. Bantwal received 91.5 mm, followed by Puttur 79.1 mm, Sullia 71.8 mm and Mangalore 42.1 mm rainfall.
