The Government-appointed Court of Inquiry will conduct a public hearing on the May 22 air crash for three days from August 17 at the old terminal building at Bajpe, sources at the airport told The Hindu on Sunday.

Preparations were being made for the public hearing, sources said.

Meanwhile, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) celebrated the Independence Day at the new integrated terminal building at Kenjar on Sunday.

In addition to the employees of the AAI, personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the airport taxi drivers took part in the celebrations.

Director of the airport M.R. Vasudeva, who unfurled the national flag, said that in view of the rapid development witnessed at the airport in the last five years, the AAI had enhanced the safety measures there.
